SPECIALIZED TRAINING AND READINESS SOLUTIONS Mini University is pleased to announce the launch of STARS: Specialized Training And Readiness Solutions. Previously known as Tickets to Training, STARS will provide early childhood professionals: 1) Access to outstanding professional development, almost all of which will be SUTQ approved specialized training and/or ODE approved, and a 2) Forum for information sharing between early learning programs across the state of Ohio to promote improved quality, best practice in school readiness initiatives, and increased positive outcomes for young children. In partnership with 4CMiami Valley, most workshops are able to be provided with SUTQ funding, and are FREE! We encourage all local providers to participate in this high quality PD!
BASIC HEALTH CLASSES Ohio's child care licensing requires all early childhood professionals to take the following classes. These classes are not approved as "specialized training", because they are entry-level health classes. Certification for most classes is valid for 3 years. If you have previously taken a 6 hour class, it will expire after 3 years, and then a 3 hour review may be taken. (CPR is valid for 2 years.)

![]() Ohio's Infant & Toddler Guidelines (ITG): Why are these guidelines important? Because early experiences last a lifetime and infancy is the morning of life... The guidelines are seen as the critical first step to ensuring that all Ohio children, birth to three, have responsive, reciprocal and respectful care. And as a result of that care, children will be ready for both school and life. There are 1,892 days from the time babies are born until they enter school. This 1,892 day journey is remarkable, complex and far reaching. Approximately 150,000 babies are born every year in Ohio: who they spend time with and how they are cared for affects who they will become. This research-based professional development is targeted for PRESCHOOL, KINDERGARTEN and SCHOOL AGE teaching staff. These modules were created by the Center on the Social and Emotional Foundations for Early Learning. www.vanderbilt.edu/csefel |
